There was total outrage in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital following killing of two kids through poisoning administered by their father over alleged inability to care for then during the yuletide season.
The accused father, identified as Mr Samuel Sunday and his family brother, Mr Aya Preye were arrested by the Men of the Bayelsa Police Command over the murder of the two kids with another one surviving the attempt.
The murdered children are Master Success Sunday who was 14 years and Master Miracle Sunday who died, aged12 years old.
The surviving boy from the poisoning incident was identified as Master Godstime Success.
Blueprint gathered that Mr. Sunday and his wife, the mother of the children divorced but the three children reside with their grandmother before the incident occurred.
The new Commissioner of police in Bayelsa, Mr. Aminu Saleh while parading the killer father and his accomplice, said before the eldest son could be rescued, others had died from the poison.
Saleh, said the man who had since 2018 branded the children as witches, had to device a devilish means to kill them.
He added that while the eldest son was rescued, the other two children died instantly because of the poisonous substance administered to them.
He explained that a certain man in their village had accused the children of being responsible for the father’s sickness and the three children were branded as wizards by the villagers.
He told newsmen in Yenagoa that the tragic story of the children and their father started in 2018.
The Police Commissioner urged parents, religious leaders and community leaders to be on the look out for their children, and not to subject them to unnecessary hardship.
Narrating his side of the story, the killer father, Mr Samuel Sunday, said he was arrested after he went to the village to pick his children for Church program.
He said he gave his family brother, whom is now at large, N1,000 for transportation to take them back to the village.
Dr Moses Emeka, the Physician attending to the boy, said he was brought to the hospital unconscious by Nigeria Drug law Enforcement Agency official.
Dr Emeka, of the Hillem Medical Centre, said the boy will soon recover as he is responding to treatment.
Master Success, said it was their father and the brother that gave them the sniper.
“Our father and his brother tied three of us and gave us sniper to drink. I was told that my brothers are dead I am the only one that survived,” he said in tears.
