Owan West APC leaders back Obaseki

Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owan West local government area have formally declared their support for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s second term ambition.

The leaders said they opted to back the governor because he has remained focused and in fact has done what his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said he would do.

The leaders, who spoke at a joint press briefing in Benin City, accordingly said they would particularly hit the road to campaign for the Obaseki/Shaibu second term project in Owan West.

One of the leaders and Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Strategic Planning and Programme Management Office, Dr Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, said they were glad Obaseki has not only fulfilled all that Oshiomhole said he would do but has surpassed it.

He recalled that Oshiomhole had introduced Obaseki as someone who would tackle issues such as carrying out difficult political reforms, blockage of financial leakages, war against hooliganism, institution of a new social order, human capital development and sustain the tempo of infrastructural development, saying these have come to be.

Similarly, former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Joe Ekpenkhio, said Obaseki’s developmental strides have touched all parts of the state.

“From Edo North through Edo Central to Edo South, Obaseki has touched all parts of the state. The development is visible. Look at infrastructure. Roads are being tarred. Industrial park is coming.

“Go to Agenebode, Sobe and Warrake, farmers there are happy. That is why we want to give him the second term so that there will be more dividends of democracy. Go to any primary health centre, nurses and doctors are on duty.”

Also, the chairman of Owan West local government, Mr Frank Ilaboya, said all the leaders of the locality have resolved to deliver on the mandate.

He noted in particular that they resolved to deliver Obaseki since he has not deviated from those things Oshiomhole said he would do.
