Oyetola orders immediate renovation of school damaged by rainstorm

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, Sunday inspected a portion of Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo, damaged by Wednesday rainstorm.

The school was built by immediate past governor, Rauf Aregbesola and commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in September 2016.

Oyetola who was accompanied by some members of his executives ordered the immediate commencement of renovation work on the affected portion of the school.

The governor who expressed sadness over the degree of damage done to the school infrastructure by the rainstorm, said it is unfortunate that trees that are supposed to guard against such occurrence were not planted in the school.

While ordering the planting of trees in the school premises to forestall such occurrence in the future, Oyetola expressed regret that the unfortunate incident is already affecting academic activities of the students of the school.

Oyetola however promised that renovation work will also commence immediately in schools affected by rainstorm across the state for students to have smooth learning when school resumes.

He said, “I am using this opportunity to tell people of Osun to imbibe the habit of tree planting around their houses so as to serve as windbreakers during windstorm. We can’t afford to expose our buildings to windstorm unnecessarily. Let’s plant trees around.

“Our Government will never joke with anything that has to do with the education of our children. They are the future generation and we must continue to do everything to make them comfortable in their schools.

“It is unfortunate that this has happened, but we are fixing it immediately,” Oyetola stated.
