Oyetola v Adeleke: Apprehension as Osun tribunal set judgment day

Osun state election petition tribunal has fixed Friday, January 27 for judgment.

The tribunal commenced sitting on the petition filed by the former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on September 26, 2022.

Tribunal Secretary, David Umar, confirmed that the Justice Terzea Kume-led tribunal will deliver judgment by 9 am, Friday.

Oyetola and the APC had alleged that the result of the July 16, 2022 governorship election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was fraught with over-voting in 749 polling units in 10 local government areas.

They also claimed that Adeleke was not eligible to contest the election because of alleged discrepancies in his certificate submitted to the INEC.

But the PDP, Ademola Adeleke claimed that over-voting occurred in only six polling units and that he fulfilled the provision of the constitution on the issue of the certificate.
