Oyo: Accord seeks cancellation of Oluyole constituency polls over irregularities

The Accord Party in Oluyole Federal Constituency in Oyo state Monday demanding the cancellation of the House of Representatives elections in the constituency.

Chairman of the party in Oluyole local government, Alhaji Akeem Adeoye, in a statement said the demand for the cancellation was as a result of alleged “irregularities noticed” during the last Saturday elections.

Alhaji Adeoye alleged that there were discrepancies in number of ballot papers supplied for the election for the National Assembly in the constituency.

Accord chairman said: “The purported conducted election ball papers for House of Representatives in the Oluyole Federal Constituency was not sufficient and a complaint was made to AEO1 Mrs Oluranti Abidemi Ikudaisi as well as the Electoral Officer that the House of Representatives election should be postponed.

“Despite the complaints, nothing was done and ballot papers were rationed to ward collation centers. The total number of ballot papers that should have been brought was 130,680 and there was t 49,904 ballot papers shortfall, ” he said.

Alhaji Adeoye added, “This became apparent because the senate and presidential ballot papers were 130,680 while only 80776 was supplied for Reps election, leaving a deficit of 49,904.

“Before this election, INEC gave the assurance that all the necessary materials will be supplied to all the polling units, but what transpired in Oluyole Federal Constituency, if allowed to stand is purely a betrayal of trust.”
