Oyo govt to investigate collapsed building, 2 trapped

Oyo state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Toye Arulogun said the state government is to investigate the collapse of a building under construction at Sogoye area of Ibadan on Friday evening.

Arulogun who made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan also said no death was recorded in the collapsed building.

According to the Commissioner, only two people said to be working on the construction of the building were trapped in the collapsed and were subsequently rescued alive.

The Commissioner stressed that the state government was to ensure that  an investigation into the collapsed building  would be carried out by the relevant agencies

“Upon hearing the news of the incident, the Governor set up a multi-agency rescue team which promptly swung into action, mobilising equipment, materials and personnel. The team was able to rescue the two victims trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building as three were initially rescued manually and no fatality was recorded in the rescue operation which ended 3.45am today.” he said.

Mr Arulogun added  in the statement that the multi-agency rescue operation team set up by the Governor was able to achieve the evacuation of all victims from the collapsed building which was under construction as at the time of the incident.

The Commissioner maintained that those injured in the collapsed building  are in stable condition, have been taken to the hospital while no death was recorded.
