Oyo: Hoodlums kill Police DCO, civilian, machete DPO, Inspector

Suspected hoodlums, Tuesday, killed a Police Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) and a civilian during an attack on a police station in Iganna, Iwajowa local government area of Oyo state.

It was learnt that trouble started when “a man carrying charcoal from Igangan reportedly met some officers of Nigeria Police Force at a check point in Iganna, allegedly requesting for money as the driver denied.

According to sources, a request for the vehicle document which resulted to argument out of provocation the police pointed gun at the driver as a result of which the

driver started dragging gun with the police during which the driver was allegedly shot at leg and rushed to the hospital.

Oyo state Police command in a statement on behalf of the Oyo state Commissioner of Police , CP Adebowale Williams by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso said the police station was attacked by hoodlums.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that in compliance to the stop and search directives on unregistered motorcycles and overcrowded pillions to reduce the spate of robberies and abductions in the axis, operatives of the command attached to Iganna Divisional Police headquarters while on legitimate duties along Elejoka-Igangan road, Iwajowa LGA, were attacked by hoodlums who were clearly opposed not only to the directive but as well the relative tranquility in the axis,” he said.
