Oyo LGs/LCDAs crisis: Sacked chairmen resume, hold prayers

 

Some of the sacked local government chairmen in Oyo state  Monday resumed in their various offices in compliance with the directives of the state chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria , (ALGON).

 ALGON chairman in Oyo state, Prince Ayodeji Abass – Aleshinloye said the sacked chairmen have successfully assumed duty in the various councils across the state.

Blueprint learnt that as early as 8a.m, the chairmen of Oluyole, Ogbomoso Central LCDA, Ibarapa North east, Iseyin local government , Oluyole local government , Ibadan South east, Ibadan North resumed  in their offices .

Most of the chairmen arrived their various offices with their supporters after which they headed straight to the council’s conference room for prayers to usher in their resumption back into office.

While some of the returnee chairmen left their various councils after about an hour as local government workers in the state stayed out of office in compliance with the state NULGE, others left for their various homes in preparation for Tuesday’s work.

Speaking with journalists, the Oyo state ALGON chairman and chairman of Oluyole local government ,Prince Ayodeji Abass –Alesinloye, confirmed that ” all the elected chairmen in the state have resumed back in their various councils.”

He  said the resumption of the chairmen in their councils was peaceful and successful as there was no record of violence as at that time adding that, “we went to resume, nothing happened, it was successful .

“I resumed at my office in Oluyole  local government area of Oyo state this morning . I was at the secretariat and I talked to the people .  We prayed at the conference room and I urged the people to be law abiding. There was no violence,were are not hoodlums,” he said.

He added that with their resumption into their offices, the local government chairmen are ready to cooperate with Governor Seyi Makinde in moving the state forward saying ,  it was unfortunate that the governor is not ready to work with the chairmen.

“It is a pity that up till this moment, the governor is yet to see reason why he should toe the path of rule of law. The governor is yet to deem it fit to invite us for a meeting. He is supposed to have invited us to deliberate on how to move the state forward as the elected local government chairmen in the state.”

Prince Abass- Alesinloye emphasised that as far as the local government chairmen are concerned , there tenure will end in May, 2021, hence the need for Governor Makinde to cooperate with them in moving the state ahead.
