Oyo NYSC cordinator tasks corps members on entrepreneurship

The NYSC Oyo state coordinator, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, has tasked the outgoing  2020 Batch A corps members to become entrepreneurs as they exit national service.
She gave the charge while addressing the over 5,000 corps members during the low-key passing out ceremony at Ibadan, Southwest local government. She stressed that it’s only entrepreneurial skills that would sustain and turn individuals to job creators instead of seekers for illusionary white collar jobs.

Ogbuogebe recalled that the NYSC management, in its effort to empower and expose every corps member to skill acquisition before their exit from service, decided to take the 2020 Batch A corps members back to camp for a week long SAED-intensive training. “This was to fill the gap created by the suspension of their orientation course last March,” she said.

She enjoined the corps members who took up the challenge of learning a skill not to idle away but to continue to acquire more knowledge and professionalism in their chosen skills.

To the corps members who did not avail themselves the opportunities of the free SAED intensive training, the state coordinator encouraged them to contact the management who will link them up with the SAED trainers  to train them at a cost.
She also informed the corps members of the available funding options  where they can access soft loans to establish their businesses.

The state coordinator further used the opportunity to salute the resilience and contributions of the corps members towards nation building in the course of their service year. She also commended their immeasurable contributions in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic which earlier truncated the batch’s orientation course. The 2020 Batch A corps members engaged in the production of face masks, hand sanitisers, hand liquid wash and construction of semi-automated hand wash devices that are being used both at the secretariat and the orientation camp.

“The low key passing out ceremony witnessed the distribution of Certificate of National Service to deserving Corps members at various local government areas under the supervision of top management staff and in compliance with the covid-19 protocols,” she said.
