Oyo/Osun command generates N15.8bn in 3 months – Customs Area Controller

The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Adamu Abdulkadir on Thursday disclosed that the area command generated N15.8 billion between February 1st to April 30 this year.

Comptroller Abdulkadir stated this while briefing newsmen on the activities of the command at the Oyo/Osun command headquarters in Ibadan.

The area command stressed that the ” figure is the cumulative of import duty from bonded terminals, excise duty from factories under the excise net, auction fees and all other ancillary charges into both federation and non federation accounts.”

” From 1st February 2021 to 30th April 2021, the command generated N15,890,489,479.26 (fifteen billion, eight hundred and ninety million, four hundred and eighty nine thousand, four hundred and seventy nine naira, twenty six kobo).” he said.

Comptroller Abdulkadir stated that men of the Oyo/Osun Customs Area Command have “carried out our enforcement and anti smuggling activities with utmost professionalism, caution and intelligent gathering”.

” We urge the public to cooperate with the Nigeria Customs Service in the implementation of government fiscal policies to help improve the economic and social welfare of the nation.”

Speaking further, Comptroller Abdulkadir added that the command also seized over 3,311 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 487 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 221 cartons of imported dry fish, 9 sacks of imported dry fish, 9 sacks of Cannabis Sativa and 6 bales of used shoes.

The Oyo/Osun Customs Area Controller gave other seized items as138 (10 litres) gallons of vegetable oil, 572 (2.5 litres) gallons of vegetable oil, 21 bales of second-hand clothings and one used DAF truck with the duty paid value of N134, 4million .

“May I highlight the command’s anti-smuggling achievement within the same period under review as follows: Foreign parboiled rice 3,311 (50 kg) bags, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 487 (25 ltr) kegs, imported dry fish 221 cartons, imported dry fish, 9 sacks, Cannabis Sativa 9 sacks, used shoes 6 bales.

“Vegetable oil 138 (10 litres) gallons, vegetable oil, 572 (2.5 litres) gallons, second-hand clothing 21 bales, used DAF truck.
