Oyo to rehabilitate persons addicted to gambling – Official 

The Director General, Oyo State Gaming Board, Mr Olajide Boladuro, Thursday, hinted that the state government is to rehabilitate persons addicted to gambling in and across the state.

Mr Boladuro dropped this hint after a tour of two radio stations based in Ibadan in a bid to create awareness on activities of the Board in relation to curbing irresponsible gaming habit, especially underage gaming, in view of the current holidays of schools across the state.

He stated that the state government is concluding arrangement with relevant specialists and experts to provide rehabilitation for those in the category. 

According to Mr Boladuro, “This is in a bid to curb the menace of irresponsible gaming and gambling among people in the state, adding that the government has assured all stakeholders including operators in the state that they have nothing to fear in the operations and running of their business activities in the state so long they operate according to the laws guiding their business operations in the state.

Speaking at Fresh FM, Ibadan, Mr  Boladuro appealed to parents to curb the habit of sending underage children to gaming centres while also advising operators not to allow underage in the centers.

At Agidigbo FM, he said the board is committed to ensuring responsible gaming, saying, “our operators have nothing to fear while operating and running in Oyo state.”
