Pam assumes duty as NCPC boss, assures on peace, transparency

Newly appointed Executive Secretary (ES) of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, Tuesday assumed duty at the NCPC headquarters with a promise to ensure peace and transparency in the agency.

Speaking during a handover event organised by the Commission, Rev Pam promised to live above board and provide leadership that will be conformable to the mandate of the agency, noting that much was expected from him with the new appointment.

Pam said he will key into the vision and mission of the NCPC, even as he solicited the support of CAN to deliver on the appointment.

He said: “I am grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari for this appointment as the Executive Secretary of the NCPC. This is my first media address, so I won’t say much about the vision and mission of this commission until I settle down in my new capacity. Nevertheless, I want to assure everyone, especially President Muhammadu Buhari that I will not bring shame to the office.”

“We will ensure that the objectives of this commission are strictly followed and achieved. President Buhari has done well for the church with this appointment. I also believe the church will back me up in this appointment. We will use NCPC to bring peace to this country. I also promise my state governor, Simon Lalong that I will not bring shame to him.”

Also speaking, Governor Simon Bako Lalong expressed confidence in Pam, saying he always delivered whenever called upon to chair any reconciliation committee in Plateau state.

“I am grateful to God for this appointment of my brother. He did well as CAN President in Plateau. Because of the faith I have in him, I made him chairman or member of many reconciliation committees constituted to bring peace during the crisis period in Plateau. He was always there for us.

“However, I implore him to use this appointment to bring unity to CAN. We need one CAN. We will do our best to support the ES. Good things don’t come easy, so we thank President Buhari for the appointment. We are also grateful to the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, for the endorsement and support.

“As ES, you should do your best to treat everyone equally. You are the ES of NCPC, which serves the entire Nigeria, not the Northern Christian alone. I hope and pray you perform beyond the NCPC. Don’t be selective in attending to people. With our prayers and your track records, I have no doubt you will perform beyond expectations,” he said.
