PANDEF condoles family of late Senator Umoyo

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF)  has expressed its condolences to the entire family of late Senator Etang Umoyo, who died February, 2021, at the age of 72 after a brief illness. 

The remains of late Senator Umoyo, who was Chairman of PANDEF, Akwa Ibom State Chapter before his death, would be laid to rest on Friday May, 7, 2021 at his country home Idung Umoyiu, Etebi Idung Assan, Esit Eket local government area.

Delivering a condolence message at the residence of late Umoyo, at Mobil Housing Estate, Shelter Afrique, Mbiabong, Uyo, Wednesday evening, the national Chairman of PANDEF, senator Emmanuel Ibokessien extolled the virtues of the deceased.

“I was among those who supported his nomination as Chairman of PANDEF, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, having known him for his credibility, and as a straightforward person. He was a man who will walk away when things are not done the way they are supposed to be done.

“He was man when he writes, you can hardly correct anything. We are here to tell you that we, members of PANDEF are strongly with you during this period of grief and throughout his burial ceremonies.

  “We (PANDEF) really pray that God will give a replacement to the family, PANDEF, his community and Akwa Ibom State. Also we pray that the good God should comfort you and the family for this irreparable loss”

Also commiserating with family of the deceased,  the acting State Chairman of PANDEF, and a former Secretary to State Government (SSG), Obonganwan Grace Ekong described the demise of the late elder statesman as a great loss to them in the forum.

“We came with sadness in our hearts because we have lost one of us. We pray God to console his entire family. Our  relationship with him as state Chairman of PANDEF was very cordial, because he was a listening man, willing to make use of good ideas from other people.

” He was a not a selfish person, that knew how to go about what he believes in. He was a man that doesn’t fight for himself, but for the interest of his community, state and wherever  he finds himself. He believed in things that will be of benefit to his Community, to his state, and his country”

Responding on behalf of the entire family, son of the deceased and Chief Mourner, Mr. Ime Etang Umoyo, appreciated PANDEF for their prayers, and support in their period of grief and assured that they will emulate his revered virtues.

 Also PANDEF’s Board of Trustees (BoT) members, Senator Helen Esuene and Senator Anietie Okon  the forums’ delegation to the condolence visit.
