Panic as APC summons emergency meeting over postponed elections

There are palpable tension in the rank and file of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following the postponement of presidential and National Assembly election earlier slated for February 16.

To this end, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling APC has called for an emergency meeting so as to restrategise against the new date for the said elections.

Blueprint gathered in Abuja on Sunday that the meeting, slated for 11am on Monday would, breaking from tradition, hold at the national secretariat of the party as opposed to its usual venue, the Presidential Villa.

The electoral umpire had to postpone the election, blaming it on logistics.

Expected at the Monday’s meeting including President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, all the former and serving governors, National Leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, some NWC members among others.

When asked to give details of what the ruling party lost to the postponed elections, the National Publicity Secretary Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said it was difficult to estimate the lost in terms of Naira and Dollar.

Onilu said unlike the administration of People Democratic Party (PDP) where the then ruling party used public funds for election, “APC administration doesn’t toe such path.”

According to APC spokesman, party leaders at all levels are responsible for the party agents across all the 1,760 wards nationwide.
