Panic as community discovers dead body inside Osun river


Residence of Temidire, Oke-Ima area, Ilobu in Irepodun local government area of Osun state at the weekend, cried out as they found remains of a yet-to-be-identified woman in a river in the town. 

People of the area who are in panic, suspected that the dead body was dumped in the river by ritualists.

It was gathered that the body of an old man had been found in Ojutu river in the same town some days ago. This, the residence said is causing panic. 

The community leader of Temidire, Mr Tijani Rasheed, expressed sadness over what he described as strange thing in the community. 

According to Rasheed, the community has never seen such horrific incidence.

He said the community has never witnessed robbery,  kidnappings or ritual killing,  calling on security to forestall efforts to cause panic in the area. 

Policemen, environment and health officials who retrieved the body from the river could not speak on the incidence. They said they have exhumed the body from the river to prevent environmental pollution. 

Residence could not also recognize the woman as her head has been shaved and face severed by suspected ritualists. 
It was gathered that the residence were alerted by someone who had went to defecate nearby the river.

“It was a man who went to the river to defecate that saw the decomposing body. We then called the local government environmental sanitation officials who later came with policemen to evacuate the body from the river.
