Patronise PHCs, NPHCDA urges Nigerians

The Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) Thursday called on Nigerians to patronise the Primary Health Centers (PHC) located in different parts of the county.
As part of activities to mark the 2020  Africa Vaccination  Week (AVW), The Executive Director /CEO of NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, stated that the general public should be  informed that PHCs remain open throughout the country, including states with lockdown order.

Represented by Director, Disease Control and Immunisation, Dr. Basey Okpese, Dr. Faisal said the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country should not affect the routine services provided by the PHCs.
Addressing patients at the Kuchigoro Primary Health Center, and Area 2 PHC Thursday, Dr. Faisal stated that “Government at the national, state and local levels have put in place measures to safe delivery of PHC services at all the centers in the country.”He urged pregnant women to continue to patronise the PHCs nearest to them for antenatal care and child birth.

He said parents are also encouraged to take their children for immunisation, growth monitoring and all other PHC related services.
He said: “All caregivers, health workers  and Nigerians are advised to obey all government guidelines  on physical  distancing, frequent hand washing with soap and running water, self isolation for as long as the outbreak lasts.”
