Pay attention to youth-oriented programmes, firm tells Tinubu

The Chief Executive Officer, ASQ Development and Traning Nigeria, Mr. Samson Adeosun, has called on the incoming President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to pay adequate attention to the youth-oriented programmes

Adeosun, who addressed a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, said Tinubu’s commitment to sustainable youth development through innovative vocational skills transfer programmes would re-enforce the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector and enhance the nation’s per capital income and gross domestic product.

Speaking on the just conducted presidential and National Assembly elections, Adeosun sued for calm, and called on the Nigerians to embrace peace, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do a self-re-examination and purge itself of all bad eggs and fill all identified gaps.

“We call on all Nigerians, especially the youth, to toe the line of peace and rule of law, we equally urge INEC to do a self-re-examination and purge itself of all bad eggs and fill all identified gaps, to retain credibility as we move into the next round of the general elections.

“Furthermore, ASQ uses this medium to enjoin the incoming administration of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pay the needed and adequate premium to sustainable youth development through innovative vocational skills transfer programmes, as this is the most assured conduit to re-enforcing our Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector and enhance the nation’s per capital income and gross domestic product”, he said.

Adeosun said the successful conduct of the election called for national Thanksgiving going by the uncertainty, and security challenges, coupled with the prevailing cash scarcity occasioned by the Naira Redesign Policy, and the scarcity of petrol nationwide experienced before the exercise.

He, however, called on the aggrieved Nigerians to accept the outcome of the poll in good faith just as he expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to stimulate the growth of the country’s economy.

“It would be recalled that some weeks back there was general apprehension across board and much uncertainty on the possibility of holding the General Elections as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)considering the enormous security challenges, coupled with the prevailing cash scarcity occasioned by the Naira Redesign Policy, further worsened by the scarcity of Petrol nationwide.

“That INEC and relevant agencies of government were able to surmount the challenges and conduct the poll to the extent of the success achieved calls for a national thanksgiving and amounts to the collective victory for Nigeria, irrespective of the shortcomings and flaws of the process, which to me, is tolerable against the backdrop of anarchy that would have enveloped the entire country if the elections were not conducted or conducted inconclusively.

“The ASQ Development & Training Nigeria is not in any way insensitive to the pains and hurt across some divides over the outcome. The victory and emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-elect might call for celebration to many, but it may be viewed as thing of contempt in other quarters, which explains the atmosphere of mixed- feeling over the country.

“However, despite the differences and diversity of interest, all Nigerians share a common denominator at this critical point and time of our nationhood, which is the need and desire for a very peaceful and secured society that engenders development for all.

“The entire Management and Staff of ASQ Nigeria, thereby, join our corporate voice with every peace-loving and progressive-minded citizen of our country to call on all to view the larger picture of the gains made by the successful conduct of the election, rather than through the prism of our personal or sectarian aspirations. Any crisis or upheaval resulting in breakdown of law and order would be highly damaging to every one of us, and even cripple our socio-economic and political lives, even bringing our national life to a halt.

“ASQ, therefore, passionately appeals to all Nigerians, across all political divides to embrace the spirit of peace and accept the outcome of the election in good faith, weather it favoured their preferred candidate or not. ASQ Nigeria is of no doubt whatsoever that the administration of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will return days of economic boom and secured social life to Nigeria, hence, strong appeal that we all join forces to resist any attempt by any detractor to destabilize the polity and truncate this hard-earned national victory”, he said.
