Pay raise: Kwara colleges suspend ultimatum

The Committee of Unions of Tertiary institutions (CUTI), Kwara state chapter, has suspended its seven-day ultimatum to the state government to meet its demands for improved infrastructure and enhanced pay.
The committee at a meeting with the Special Adviser on Labour to the governor, Comrade Bisi Fakayode, promised to shelve their plan out of respect for the governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Its Chairman, ComradeS. A. Sanni, who disclosed this, said it was their hope that the government would reciprocate the gesture by responding promptly to the agreements reached at the meeting.

Responding, Fakayode commended CUTI for its maturity in suspending the ultimatum, stressing that government would do all in its capacity to uphold industrial harmony in the state.

Fakayode said the state government’s timely implementation of The National Minimum and other welfare packages for civil servants was evidence of government’s commitment to workers’ well-being.
CUTI had earlier in the week issued a seven-day ultimatum to the state government to meet its demand or risk industrial action.
