PDP Chair: Bode George withdraws from race

Chairmanship aspirant from Lagos state, Chief Bode George, has withdrawn from the contest.

George’s cited the inability of the party to micro zone the office to the Southwest and “heavy monetisation of the contest” as his reasons for his withdrawal.

George, who took the decision last night, also said he withdrew on grounds of principle while noting that all offices of the party, except the office of the presidency should be micro zoned.

He demanded unreserved apology from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state for insulting the people of the Yoruba race.

According to George, Wike had on national television challenged the Yoruba race for not winning elections for PDP in the Southwest and questioning what the Yoruba race was bringing to the table.

He accused the National Caretaker Committee for skewing the convention in favour of Prince Uche Secondus.
