PDP govs to Buhari: Your anti-corruption war targeted at opposition

Gombe

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has castigated President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption, describing it as nothing but a war against the opposition party in the country ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Ayodele Peter Fayose stated this while addressing newsmen at the end of its meeting in Gombe yesterday.
The party declared that Buhari’s anti-graft war is not a holistic fight against corruption but targeted at persecuting members of the opposition, to weaken it and secure a smooth ride back to power in 2019.
Fayose, who read the party’s communiqué at the end of the meeting, stated that the report of Transparency International on the fight against corruption by the Buhari led administration has vindicated PDP, making it the only viable alternative in the country.
Speaking on the abduction of the Dapchi school girls by the Boko Haram, PDP indicted the APC of laxity in the insurgency war in the North-East and
called on the federal government to do everything humanly possible to get the girls back to their parents.
“Several billions of dollars were said to have been spent to defeat the insurgents and yet people are being killed on a daily basis while many are being abducted at will. The federal government has to wake up to its responsibility of protecting lives and properties of innocent citizens of the country,” PDP added.
It added that the Buhari-led government had failed Nigerians in every ramification because it has not been able to fulfill any of the campaign promises made to the people during the 2015 campaign.
The Gombe meeting was attended by 6 PD governors while others were represented by their deputies as well as members of the National Working Committee, some members of the BoT, state chairmen and party stalwarts.
