Chairman of Delta state Caucus Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Hyacinth Enuha, at the weekend said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had plunged the state into “colossal debts to the tune of about N700 billion with a propensity for more loans.” Enuha stated this in Asaba shortly after the inauguration of APC 14 Committees in preparation for the 2019 governorship elections. APC Caucus Council Chairman said the APC in the state in was poised to take over the reins of power from “an inept and corrupt PDP government.” Inaugurating the committees at the Party General Meeting, the South-south Chairman of the APC, Mr. Ita Ayo, charged members to work hard to ensure victory in the forthcoming elections in the state. He urged the elders of the party to make their contributions and to impact the people positively, saying “everyone must leave a legacy for the party.”

Also speaking, the Minister of State for Petroleum and a member of the state elders’ caucus, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, congratulated the party for the existing peace and charged them to sustain the peace. Kachikwu said it would take the collective responsibility of the elders and all members of the party to maintain the existing peace and to deliver on the national mandate to produce the next governor in 2019. In his address, state APC Chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, charged members to reach out to win more souls for the party. He, however, called on the leaders of the party to go down to their units, wards and local government and work for the party to enable it to win the governorship election in 2019. He apologised to aggrieved members to forgive, sheathe their swords and return to the party, assuring them of purposeful leadership.
