‘PDP remains only true national party’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as the “only true national party” capable of holding the country together,  Senator Ahmed Moh’d  Maccido, has said.

Senator Maccido said this in an interactive session with newsmen in sokoto, shortly after completion of his two-day tour of all the eight local governments under his constituency.

He said he refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of his belief that the Peoples Democratic Party PDP is  the only party that practised true democracy.

“PDP is the only party with a national outlook, devoid of any ethnic or religious colourations.
“PDP remains the only party which faithfully upholds the principles and tenets of internal democracy. In PDP, the principles of equity, fairness and internal democracy are sacrosanct.”

He said all the members of the party are being given the equal opportunities to vie for any posts and at all levels.
Maccido, who is also the chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, added that the PDP had since 1999 endeavoured to evenly transform the country in all aspects of human life.

The Senator said the two-day tour of his constituency afforded him the opportunity to intimate all the stakeholders of the party and his supporters on why he stayed put in the PDP.

According to him PDP is the only party that preaches national unity and it gave him the first mandate between 2007 and 2011.
He said: “The party also gave me my current mandate from 2011 to date, while it was yet to expire. The fortunes of the people of my constituency, Sokoto state and Nigeria in general are brighter and more guaranteed under the PDP.”

Maccido also maintained that his loyal supporters had advised him against defecting to the APC because, according to him, doing so is tantamount to betraying the confidence they have reposed in me religiously.
