PDP Reps candidate mulls bill on national security architecture

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ilorin West/Asa federal constituency, Alhaji Muhammed Ajia, has promised to sponsor a bill on national security architecture aimed at improving internal security.

Ajia, a retired police security chief, said one of the reasons Nigeria still contends with serious security challenges is because the country is spending hugely on defence without commensurate consideration for international security.

Ajia spoke shortly after receiving an award of excellence bestowed on him by the members of Cadet Inspector course 36/2002 of Nigeria Police Force in Abuja at an event marking 20 years anniversary of the course that joined police force in the year 2002.

A statement by his media office in Ilorin Monday said:

“I am promising you that first thing I will strive to achieve at the National Assembly is to present a bill for the Security Architecture of Nigeria where the role of internal security will be well defined and explained.

“One of the reasons we are facing serious insecurity is because we are spending billions of naira on defence without positive results.

“I will make sure that internal security is given priority when I get to the green chamber.

“I promise you that I will make sure the set goal is achieved by the grace of God.”

The spokesman of the cadet, inspector course 36/2002 of Nigeria Police Force, CSP Bello Yakubu, during the glamorous ceremony stated that Alhaji Ajia has been supporting the force and officers at the front line.
