Peace deal: Zamafara secures release of 40 kidnap victims

As part of the ongoing peace and reconciliation process initiated by the Zamfara state government to overcome the lingering security challenges in the state, additional 15 kidnapped persons were released Friday, totalling 40 in the last 72 hours without ransom payment.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, CP Usman Nagogo, Friday, presented the victims to the Governor Bello Muhammad at the Government House, Gusau.

The victims were released by armed bandits in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the state and include 25  Fulani abducted by Yan SA KAI Volunteer Group since April 9, 2019, were successfully released to the CP who later handed them over to the state governor.

The governor commended the various aggrieved parties and promised the current peace process of the state government will ensure justice for all.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Public Enlightenment, Zailani Bappa, said the 15 kidnap victims include 13 male and two female.

Also speaking on the feat, the National Chairman of Miyatti, Alhaji Mohammadu Ardon Zuru, applauded the government’s effort and the police for the initiative and promised that all the kidnapped victims would soon be released to the government in order to reunite them with their relations.
