Peace returns to Mambilla Plateau – Ishaku

Taraba state Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, said normalcy has returned to the troubled Mambilla Plateau in Sardauna local government area of the state. Th e governor stated this yesterday in Jalingo during an interactive session with reporters. He expressed gratitude to God because peace had returned to Sarduna local government area after the recent crisis. Meanwhile, the chairman Dangote group of companies Alhaji Aliko Dangote has donated N50 million to the victims of the crisis, describing it as unfortunate. Dangote who said he was in the state to kick start the multibillion naira investment in the state in the area of sugar and rice production and processing, said there can never be any meaningful development in an area taken over by crises.

Reacting to the coming of Alhaji Aliko Dangote to the state, Governor Ishaku said his administration has just started unlocking potentials of the state particularly in agriculture. Th e governor added that Taraba state had the potentials to feed Nigeria and West Africa with rice and it was the process that had just started. “Taraba state has a lot to give the country, be it with rice, sugar, tea or palm oil” he stated. He explained further that he “wouldn’t want to be a governor that only pays salaries”, adding that his administration was working with Chinese embassy to commence the exportation of soya beans and sesame seed.
