PEF not owing IPMAN members N42bn – Pasali

The national secretary, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Danladi Garba Pasali, said Sunday that the association is not laying claims against the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), as speculated by some impostors of IPMAN’s leadership.

The secretary in a press release stated that the association did not plan to disrupt fuel supply in the country.

It said the statement was part of the nefarious activities of some impostors claiming to be officials of IPMAN, who go about misinforming and misleading Nigerians about the status of the PEF, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and by extension the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and all genuine stakeholders in the downstream sector.

“Few days ago, we had a course to correct some erroneous impressions created against FEF by impostors, Sanusi Fari and Ukandike Chinedu, over an alleged call for the scrapping of PEF, claiming that the information emanated from us.

“Today, we are still compelled to inform Nigerians and all that matters in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry, that it was absolute falsehood that FEF is owing IPMAN members such humongous amount of money to the tune of N42bn, and that we will disrupt fuel supply, allegedly made by Fari,” Pasali said.

He said as legitimate markers, they enjoy cordial and harmonious working relationships with PEF, DPR, NNPC and genuine stakeholders in the downstream sector, adding that Nigerians should discard the false allegations, and misinformation that their members would disrupt fuel supply.

He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, Nigerians should know that both Mr.  Fari, and Mr Chinedu, have ceased to be the members of IPMAN, not only because they have lost out the mandates of our members, and even at Supreme Court, but that they do not have a single filling station to qualify them been legitimate marketers, as their companies are not known to PEF, hence they do not know how PEF operates.”
