Pharmacists indispensable tool for national devt – Yakasai

A renowned Kano-based pharmacist, Alhaji Ahamed Ibrahim Yakasai has described pharmacists as indispensable tool for national development.

He added that pharmacists have remarkably performed their role as professionally expected.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the National Association of Industrial Pharmacists (NAIP) held at the Tahir Guest Palace Hotel Kano over the weekend, Yakasai said no nation could effectively develop and achieve a same-balance of progress in its health care delivery without the pharmacists playing a pivotal role, adding that Nigeria was abundantly blessed with the caliber of pharmacists needed to forge ahead.

The former Commissioner of Commerce, Trade, Industry and Cooperatives during the Ibrahim Shekarau administration also spoke on the menace of drug abuse and what it portends for the future of the present generation and generations yet unborn.

He stated that no one is immune to such a catastrophe as some undesirable elements always take solace in drug abuse.

He stated that stemming the disturbing pace of drug abuse has become necessary , considering the manner those taking hard drugs were wreaking havoc on the nation.

He added that the proliferation of fake and counterfeit drugs has dismally changed the good face of the nation considerably.

In his remarks, Kano state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, said the Kano state government had noticeably effected laudable giant strides aimed at making the state a leading pace-setter in health care delivery, adding that in the field of immunisation, the Umar Ganduje administration had striven to make its mark on sustained polio immunisation and the fight against COVID-19.
