Pharmacy students honour 10 pharmacists

Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has honoured the first indigenous principal, School of Pharmacy, Zaria, the late Alhaji Adamu Bako Dikko, for his contributions to pharmacy education in the North and the country.
The award came at the time when the Association commissioned a project it executed at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Speaking, at the occasion, the immediate past registrar, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Dr Ahmed Tijjani Mora, described the celebrant as “a guru” as per pharmacy education was concerned.
He said the history of the profession nationwide would incomplete without the deceased.
“This teacher of pharmacy and his contemporaries, Pa Omar Ishaku and Gabriel Osuide nurtured the training of pharmacists for the award of dispensers’ certificate, Chemists and Druggists Diploma and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) amongst others.”
Earlier, Chairman of the occasion, who is the vice-chancellor, Bauchi State University, Prof. Ezzedeen Abdulrahaman, urged pharmacists to imbibe the culture of truthfulness and fear of God.
Ezzedeen, who was represented by the Director-General, National Research Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Prof. K.S Gamaliel, said performance of pharmacy students had always been outstanding.
“We are to promote Pharmaceutical profession in order to continue to excel,” he said.
Also speaking with journalists shortly after the occasion, one of the recipients, Pharm. Musa Mohammed Zango, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Warri, described the honour as “a motivating factor.”
Other awardees included the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko, and Dr Ahmed Tijjani Mora, amongst others.
