PHCN staff docked over reckless driving

Police in Kano state have arraigned one Adamu Aminu, a staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), for alleged dangerous driving on high speed and offences contrary to Sections 21 and 23 of the Road Traffic Law.
Arraigning the suspect before Chief Magistrate Muntari Ahmad, the prosecutor, Inspector Anthony Edward, told the court that the accused person was on April 2, this year, found to be driving dangerously on Igbo road in Sabon Gari area, thereby hitting one civilian, Obed, a 64-year-old woman.

The Prosecutor further stated that the victim had sustained various degrees of injury, as well as a fracture in both legs.
When the court asked Aminu if he understand the charges read to him he pleaded guilty.
Edward prayed the court to adjourn its sitting, saying that the victim “is on admission in a hospital receiving treatment.”
Chief Magistrate Muntari adjourned the sitting to April 17, for further mentioning
and ordered that the motorcycle should not be released.
