His Excellency Roderico Atienza, Charge d’ Affaires & Consul General, Embassy of the Philippines in Abuja – Nigeria, members of the diplomatic community and well-wishers have congratulated the Consul of the Philippines Consulate in Lagos- Nigeria, His Excellency Emmanuel Akpakwu, on his Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) award.
According to a press statement issued on Monday in Abuja by his media consultant, Dr. Igomu, Joseph Augustine, Consul Akpakwu, was conferred with the MFR award on May 28, in recognition of his unwavering dedication and remarkable efforts in promoting trade, economic cooperation and understanding between Nigeria and the Philippines.
The statement read: “The Federal Government of Nigeria announced the recipients of the 2023 national awards on Sunday May 28th, 2023. Summarily, a total of 339 distinguished Nigerians and friends of Nigeria have been nominated by the Federal Government to receive national honours.
“Consul Emmanuel Akpakwu, a seasoned diplomat cum entrepreneur with a distinguished career, has played a pivotal role in strengthening ties between the two nations since assuming his post as Consul at the Philippines Consulate in Lagos. His strategic initiatives and diplomatic endeavours have fostered mutually beneficial partnerships in various fields, including trade, health, culture, education, and tourism etc.
“The decision to confer the MFR award upon Consul Emmanuel Akpakwu was made following an extensive evaluation by the Nigerian government, recognizing his exceptional leadership, diplomatic acumen, and commitment to advancing the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and the Philippines.
“The MFR award is one of the highest national honour awards in Nigeria, bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation’s development, both domestically and internationally. Consul Emmanuel Akpakwu joins a prestigious list of esteemed individuals who have received this accolade for their exceptional service.
“His Excellency Roderico Atienza, Charge d’ Affaires & Consul General, Embassy of the Philippines in Abuja – Nigeria, members of the diplomatic community, and well-wishers have extended their congratulations to Consul Emmanuel Akpakwu, acknowledging his dedicated service and outstanding achievements.
