Members of the Association of Phone Technicians and Accessory Dealers (APTAD) in Lokoja , Kogi state yesterday staged protest against the offi cers of the Nigeria Army and the Police over alleged Incessant harassment. Th e protesting phone technician with placards of various inscriptions had alleged that a faction of APTAB with unrecognized executives in connivance with security agents are bent on chasing the legitimate members out of the market situated at Cantonment in Lokoja the state capital.
Addressing a press conference in Lokoja , the Public Relations Offi cer of the Association Comrade Yahaya Adams wondered why offi cers of the Nigeria Army would dabble into issues of unionism which they described as pure civilian matter. Comrade Yahaya who noted that his members are majorly graduates who did not want to wait perpetually for white collar jobs, lamented the unwholesome treatment meted out to them by the offi cers of the Nigeria Army who they alleged have taken sides in the matter . Another member, Mohammed Baba Idris, who was also manhandled appealed to the Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to intervene in the incessant attacks, adding that they have lost thousands of naira as a result of disruption of their legitimate business activities.
