Phone theft: 2 bag 6 months jail in Osun


A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, osun state capital, Thursday, sentenced two men, Ogboye Seun (20) and Sunday Iyiola (22) to six month imprisonment for stealing mobile phone.  

The prosecutor, Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the convict committed the offence on July 29, 2017 at about 3:00am at Oke Arugbo community, Osogbo.   

He said the convict broke and enter into the dwelling house of one Ajani Charles Oluyemi and stole one Alcatel mobile phone valued N90,000, one Del laptop phone valued N200,000 and a wallet containing sum of N72,000. 


Prosecutor said the total amount of what the convict stole is N362,000. The offence, according to the charge sheet, is contrary to and punishable under section 516, 411(2), 309(9) and 427 of the criminal code cap 34. Vol II, laws of Osun state, 2003.   

He informed the court that the second convict, Iyiola, received the stolen Alcatel mobile phone valued N90,000. The duo of the convict admitted guilty of the four count-charge leveled against them by the police.  

Counsel to the convicts, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy on his client.

He said they are first offenders and they have shown remorse. 

The Magistrate Aishat Oloyade, however sentenced the convict to six month imprisonment.
