Pictures: Bliss as Blueprint’s Circulation Manager marries heartthrob in Kogi

It was all jubilation and bliss on Saturday as Blueprint Newspaper’s Circulation Manager, Mr Simon Salihu Yusuf, married his heartthrob, Miss Helen Ojochide Adama.

The traditional marriage ceremony, which was held at Adama Moses Salifu’s Compound in Emewe-Opada, Abocho, Dekina local government area (LGA) of Kogi State, attracted dignitaries from the area, friends from diverse background and relatives from both families.

While receiving the bride price for his daughter, the bride’s father, Mr Adama Moses Salifu, advised the couple against involving a third party in their marriage, but to settle issues within themselves.

He said: “I am happy that my daughter met a wonderful man like Simon. I am the happiest person on earth today to witness this marriage. I give thanks to God and pray for their happiness. It is one thing to come together and another thing to stay together in marriage.

“Simon has met all the requirements as custom demands to be married, so I am the proudest man in the world today. In our tradition, we don’t sell out our child as children are gifts from God. There is no amount of money that will be enough to sell off a child.

“My prayer is for the couple to live in peace and harmony. Let them not involve any third party in their marriage. Third parties destroy marriages. Couples always have problems, but settle within themselves; without involving third parties.

“So, Helen and Simon should not even involve me whenever they have minor issues as a couple. When they are happy, we’ll also be happy as their parents.”

Also speaking during the church wedding held at Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN), Emewe-Opada, the officiating minister, Rev. Lawrence Amodu, advised the couple to rely on God for a successful marriage.

“There is no greater joy than a man and a woman coming together for the purpose of marriage. God does not like divorce. Do everything possible to ensure that there is love, peace and harmony in your marriage.

“Like God made it to be from the beginning of creation, you should be each other’s companion. You will enjoy the blessings that come with marriage if you can trust and rely on God in all you do,” he said.

While appreciating everyone who supported the marriage, especially the Management and Staff of Blueprint Newspapers, an emotional Yusuf said that he had spent years searching for a wife and will cherish the woman God gave him as life partner.

“I thank and bless God for the day I met my wife. Many people may not understand how I feel right now. I have been lonely for many years. I have searched for a life partner for many years. However, I am grateful to God for blessing me with such a wonderful woman as my life partner.

“My promise is to love and cherish her for the rest of my life. I am not marrying her to be my cook or to stress her unnecessarily as I am even a wonderful cook. She is here to complement me and be with me in all I do.

“Also, I am grateful to everyone who supported the marriage in one way or the other. I am particularly grateful to the Management and Staff of Blueprint Newspapers. Since Day One, I received tremendous support from the company,

“The Chief Operating Officer, Alhaji Salisu Umar, never relented in providing emotional and financial support needed to ensure that the marriage is successful. May Almighty God bless him and every staff of Blueprint Newspapers,” he said.
