Pilgrims warned to beware of fraudsters

Pilgrims currently performing their religious obligations in Makkah and Madina are warned against fraudsters who always pretend to be pilgrims official assistants.
The warning became necessary considering the fact that despite the long period taken in training of pilgrims at home before they commence the exercise, some have already fallen prey to fraudsters in Madina.
The victims were duped of their travelling allowances worth $1.600.
Two of those affected are Fatima Ibrahim and Asabe Muhammadu from Hadeja local government area of Jigawa state.
In an interview with the victims in Madina, they explained that a man who disguised as their Council Chairman of Hadejia local government approached them and collected the envelopes containing their money.
While narrating her ordeal, Asabe explained that :”Not too long after our arrival from Nigeria in Madina, we proceeded to the mosque with some other women from our state, but unfortunately we missed the lady leading us to the Mosque.
“Unknown to us, the two men were coming behind us and they heard our conversation that we lost our team.
And immediately they said they could help us locate our members by calling the number of our leader whose number was written on the envelope containing our money.
“So, it was in that process of assisting us that they shortchanged us.
We gave one of them our envelopes containing 800 dollars then both of them disappeared into thin air,”she Said.
However, the Welfare Officer of the Pilgrims Board, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Malammadori warned the women to always stay away from supers who comes in a corny way pretending to be gentlemen and officials of the board.
Hajiya Fatima Alhassan urged the women to be security wise whenever and wherever they find themselves in order to perform an acceptable Hajj.
