Planned FIRS recruitment: Lawmaker wants FG to ensure equality

A member of the Houses of Representatives, Daniel Reyenieju, has advised the federal government to ensure that equity distribution should be ensured in the planned recruitment of 7000 Nigerians into the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) across all the states of the federation. Th e lawmaker, who represents Warri Federal Constituency of Delta state in the House, gave the advice in a chat with journalists yesterday in Abuja, stressing that doing so would go a long way to dousing the lingering tensions around the country.

He said: “If the federal government can distribute all the slots equally across the 36 states of the federation, Abuja inclusive, it will go a long way in reducing the agitations for restructuring, secession, cries of marginalisation and militancy in the Niger Delta. “If the federal government can do this, it will serve as a palliative measure that will go a long way in reducing the heat of various agitations across the country. In the past, the allocation of jobs had been lopsided and this has further generated bad blood nationwide resulting in all the agitations in diff erent parts of the country.”
