Plastic product, water in sustainable development

Sustainable development is about economic and social development compatibility with nature means the attainment of economic growth to improve people’s life and societal well-being without having adverse impact on the environment.
Effects of production and consumption of goods on the environment cannot be over-emphasised as far as sustainable development is concerned.
With the introduction of packaged water, its environmental impact on the people is not given due consideration because having utilised the content, the nylon or plastic is not well disposed off because they are not degradable; thus constituting nuisance to the environment.
Indicators of wealth available to each country are its natural resources such as water.
Quality of life has to do with access to education, security of lives and property, health care, employment opportunities, availability of clean air and safe drinking water.
Human development is measured by life expectancy, education, income, as well as the health status which are attained in water security.
Human development is the end, while economic growth is the means but cannot be achieved without water security through the effective protection of the environment.
Freshwater is currently facing depletion due to demand and supply forces of over -population, pollution, and climate change.
Water has many functions: it prevents dehydration, provide food security, helps in maintaining sanitation and to regulate the climate.
Access to water is becoming difficult day by day, and to arrest the situation, water packaged in plastics and nylons receive greater acceptability by the high and low; the elites through bottle water, and sachet water which the generality of the people consume.
Availability of water in packaged form is emphasising economic growth because the technological innovation is promoting water security by making safe, clean water accessible, affordable and available to the masses.
Development is said to be sustainable if it does not compromise the ability of future generation to meet their own needs or to disrupt their existence.
When water is polluted, it is depleted, thereby affecting sustainability of man and the ecosystem.
Economic growth depends on improvement on natural human conditions.
If environmental, social, and human losses resulting from economic growth turn out to be higher than economic benefits, the overall result for people’s wellbeing becomes negative.
In conclusion, plastics and nylons are means of packaging water, and subsequently a device of making water get to the reach of the poor, but its method of disposal has been affecting livelihood, wellbeing and quality of life.
