Plateau @47: Chief Imam, Lalong urge peace, forgiveness

The Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong, and the chief Iman of Jos, Sheikh Lawal Adam, have separately called on the people of the state to continue to promote peace and peaceful coexistence for the overall development of all.

The duo made the call soon after the Juma’a congressional prayer at the Jos central mosque, where special prayers marking the 47th anniversary of the state, were held.

The occasion was also to mark the 4th annual peace and forgiveness day scheduled for Tuesday, February 7.

“Thanks are on to Allah, who has made it possible for us to witness this day celebrating the 47the anniversary of our state. As we also mark the anniversary, we are also supplicating unto Allah to continue to keep us in peace. I am admonishing all people to embrace peace for better development,” the cleric said.

Similarly, Governor Lalong said the people of the state had reasons to thank God for the peace and progress of the state.

Lalong, represented by the commissioner for water resources and energy, Sa’ad

Bello, said for the people to have survived in relative peace was worth celebrating and thanking God.

According to him, “It’s a remarkable day that we are celebrating. I hope that the relative peace that we have achieved will be sustained for time in memorial.”

He urged the people to continue living in peace, love and forgiveness, adding that they should also continue to support any government that will succeed him in ensuring peace and development of the state.
