Plateau Assembly passes law to set up anti-corruption commission, others

The Plateau State House of Assembly, has passed into law, for the establishment of public complaints and anti corruption commission.

They passed the law after considering the report of its committee on judiciary, ethics, privileges, public account and petitions, as presented by its Chairman Hon. Henry Longs.

He said the committee recommended that federal Civil servants are excluded from the functions of the commission if established.

Similarly, the House passed into law a bill for the elimination of all forms of private and public violence in life, including physical, sexual, traditional practices and other related matters.

The bill was passed following its consideration by the committee of the whole, having the Committee, chairman on Judiciary, ethics, privileges, public account and petitions, as presented by its Chairman Hon. Henry Longs, laid his report.

“Any Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), registered by the Cooperate Affairs Commission CAC), most also registered with the Plateau State Government,” the report said.

Meanwhile, the House also passed into law a bill for the establishment of the State College of education (technical), Mabudi.

The House committee on education has, at the plenary, recommended for the approval of a bill for law to establish the college of education (technical) which would be situate a Mabudi, of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The committee said in its report, presented by Hon. Easter Dusu, on behalf of their Chairman, Hon. Eric Dakogol.

It said based on the fact that the state has only one College of Education Gindiri, and based on the fact that the state is facing shortage of teachers, the establishment of the technical college of education is highly desirable.

The House speaker, Hon. Abok Ayuba, has declared the House close for the festive period of Christmas and New.

He said the house will resume plenary on 20th January, 2021.
