Plateau Assembly, YIAGA commence civic legislative agenda

The Plateau State House of Assembly is set to hold its maiden edition of citizen led legislative agenda, for the next four years.

The House speaker Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok, represented by House Committee Chairman on Information Hon. Peter Dashi said this Tuesday in a press conference.

He said the meetings would be held across the three senatorial district of the state.

He said YIAGA Africa would provide technical support to the House in order to aid the process, which commenced on 5th with the deployment of researchers to the 17 local government areas of the state to gather data from citizens.

“Citizen’s input will be harnessed and reflected in the development of the legislative agenda through surveys and townhall meeting with the different interest groups in the state,” he said.

He said YIAGA Africa as a civic hub that is promoting democratic governance, human rights and civic engagement, is proving support to young elected representatives at federal and state levels, to put responsive, innovative and accountable leadership.
