Plateau board announces N1.4m 2018 hajj fare

Plateau state intending Muslim pilgrims are to pay N1.47 million for the 2018 hajj exercise, Executive Secretary, Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Board, Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, has disclosed.
He said the 2018 hajj fare is less than the 2017 with over N57, 000 with the basic traveling allowance remaining $800 on a flat rate.
Barrister Abdullahi said: “This year the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) has announced the hajj fare and here in Plateau state, intending pilgrims are to pay the flat rate of N1,471,719.52 and will be given $800 as their basic traveling allowance.
“Unlike last year’s fare where intending pilgrims paid N1, 529, 036.80, showing a reduction of more than N57,000,” he added.
According the ES, the sale of forms will close at the end of June, 2018 as directed by NAHCON and in line with agreement with the Saudi Arabian Authority.
“The board is therefore calling on all intending pilgrims who have deposited part of the fares to complete and for those that are yet to pay to make their payment before the month end,” he said.
The ES said Governor Simon Lalong is concerned with the affairs of the board, stressing that the governor has ensured that a befitting accommodation was secured at Makkah.
“We have secured a befitting accommodation that is very close to the holy Ka’aba because the governor is so concerned about the welfare of the state pilgrims,” he said.
