Plateau election tribunal receives 21 cases

The election petition tribunal in Plateau state said it has so far received the total of 21 complaints arising from the outcome of the both national and state assemblies elections.

The tribunal secretary, Mr. Washington Ugwu, told Blueprint  Wednesday evening that the petitions so far received were only those of the; “national and state assemblies.”

He said “No Governorship petition was so far filed, but that the tribunal has on Monday, granted an order for INEC to make available to the PDP governorship candidate Certified True Copies (CCT) of election materials.”

Similarly, a copy of the order obtained from Barr. Sunday Gabriel, counsel to Jeremiah Useni, the PDP requested that the 1st respondent being INEC should make available to  Useni or his counsel the CTC of the materials.

Counsel Odey, has through an Ex-parte motion No. 001/2019, seeking for orders of the tribunal to compelled INEC, to allow them access to the materials.

However, the tribunal chairman, Justice H. Suleiman and member 1, Justice L. Abdulkadir, granted five out of the six reliefs sought.

Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the state governorship poll conducted on the 9th and 23rd March, 2019, defeating Senator Jeremiah Useni of the PDP.
