Plateau pilgrims hale, hearty, leave Mina – Abdullahi

Executive Secretary, Plateau State Pilgrims Welfare Board (PSPWB), Ustaz Auwal Abdullahi has  said all pilgrims of the state are hale and hearty, as they returned to Makkah from Mina.

Abdullahi said all the 1198 pilgrims were at Arafat and had performed their three days stay at Mina with the pelting of the Jamarat.

“Alhamdulillah, our pilgrims are hale and hearty, we have very few of them that have little ailments, and as soon as we arrived Makkah, we will take them to the cottage hospital for treatment,” he said. 

Our correspondent reports that Dr Ibrahim Kana, the NAHCON head of medicals said as at Monday, at least nine Nigerian pilgrims had died.

 He stated this during press briefing on the activities of the medical team, adding that the commission has opened 21 field offices in Mina with adequate drugs and ambulances.

Dr Kana said: “A Lagos state pilgrim collapsed at Jamrat and was brought to the hospital in Mina but died. She was hypertensive.” 

He said the two major ailments found in the pilgrims are cough and hypertension.

More than two million  pilgrims from across the world have early Tuesday morning commenced proceedings to the pelting of the three Jamarat, and also moving out of Mina to Makkah, in readiness for departure back to their various countries.
