Plateau: Police hunt down notorious kidnapper, cattle rustlers, others

A notorious kidnapper, five cattle rustlers, eight culpable homicide, four armed robbery suspects have been arrested, Plateau state Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac Akinmoyede has revealed.

He said the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), traced and arrested notorious kidnapper, Johnson Aiku ‘M’ of Ilesha in Osun State.

According to him, one Engr. Adewale Emmanuel Aiku .M. of Zaria road Jos, reported to SARS office Bukuru, that he has been receiving unsolicited text messages from unknown person who threatened him to part with the sum of N55 million or get kidnapped with members of his family and his workers.

“On receipt of the report, SARS Operative swung into action, and arrested the suspect one Johnson Aiku ‘m’ of Ilesha in Osun State. The suspect has since confessed to the crime. Effort is on to arrest other members of his gang,” the commissioner said.

CP Akinmoyede further said five cattle rustlers were also arrested by SARS.

He said, “Acting upon a tip-off, SARS operatives from Bukuru in Jos South LGA, Plateau State arrested five notorious cattle rustlers who have been on the wanted list of the Police for sometime.”

“A J5 vehicle loaded with seven cattle was recovered from them. The suspects during investigation confessed to have rustled the cattle from Binchim village in Bassa local government area of Plateau State.”

He named the suspects as; Mohammed Isah, Badung Dalyop, Sanu Mohammed, Mohammed Salisu and Abdullahi Idris.

According to the Police state Chief, “The owner of the cattle is one Abdullahi Adamu ‘m’ of Binchim has identified his cattle.”

CP Akinmoyede, said eight suspects alleged of committing culpable homicides at various times and locations in the state have also been arrested.

“One Ismail Oladipo ‘m’ a staff of Moulds Nigeria Limited living at Millionaires Quarters, Jos went to West of Mines, picked one Patience Musa ‘f’ to his house on agreement he was going to pay her three thousand naira only (N3000) the following morning.

“However, around 2330hrs, the suspect (Ismaila) killed the lady with a knife on allegation that she attempted stabbing him. He stated that he overpowered his victim, collected the knife and used it on her. Investigation is ongoing, he will be charged to court as soon as possible,” he said.

CP Akinmoyede, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘A’ Division, in Plateau State Police Command received a distressed call that one Victor Gimba ‘m’ of Angwan Yashi in Tudun Wada area of Jos North LGA was stabbed with a knife but latter died at the Plateau Specialist Hospital.

“Six (6) suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. Exhibits recovered from them includes one (1) locally fabricated revolver pistol, one (1) Dane gun and twenty-seven (27) daggers. Suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed,” he said.

He also said one Nandap Vongkat ‘m’ of Takalafiya village, Langtang South LGA of Plateau State, was alleged to have stabbed his younger one Selzing Dando ‘m’, aged 23 years, on the stomach with a pair of scissors, who eventually died at Shekur Hospital, Mabudi in Langtang South.

“Suspect has been arrested and is being investigated,” he said.

CP Akinmoyede, said one Musa Jibrin of Tilde Fulani in Toro LGA of Bauchi State and one Idris Yakubu of Bassa LGA of Plateau State who robbed their victim of his three hundred and twenty thousand naira only( N320,000:00) at gun point, were also arrested.

He said two of their gang members – Yahaya Abubakar of Bassa LGA and one Abubakar Ahmed  of the same address escaped.

He said one AK47 magazine loaded with 13 rounds of live ammunition, one AK47 rifle Chamber Cover and a Toyota Passat motor vehicle with Reg. No DUT 82-CZ have been recovered, while effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover the AK47 rifle used for the operation.

He said all suspects will soon be charge to court for prosecution.
