Plateau: Speaker assures communities of support


Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly, Honourable Abok Ayuba, has pledged that the assembly would work with the executive to end the killing of innocent persons by gunmen. 

Ayuba made the pledge Monday when he led some members of the assembly to communities in Bokkos and Mangu LGA’s that were recently attacked.

The speaker in a press release by his director of press, Mr  Bulus Atang Azi, said the assembly  would work  to end the attacks.

He said: “The governor has taken serous steps to curb these attacks, so as legislators we will work closely with the Governor to ensure that Plateau people stay in peace.”

Honourable  Ayuba added that the attack had thrown a challenge to the people of the state, adding that an attack on one Plateau person is an attack on all. He urged everybody to unite in these trying times. 

“The speaker described the attackers as enemies of the state that wanted to break the people that have resolved to live together in peace,” the release said.

The chairman, Bokkos local government council,  Honourable Yusuf Machen, described the legislator’s visit as consoling.

He also said it was the attack was barbaric. He condemned the gruesome murder of the people in communities within his local government.
