Police arraign Poly lecturer over forgery, theft

A lecturer with the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic Saki, Popoola Waheed was Wednesday arraigned before an Oyo state Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Iwo road area of Ibadan for alleged forgery and theft.

Arraigning the lecturer on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and forgery,  Police Prosecutor, ASP Sunday Ogunremi, said the lecturer and others now at large sometimes between the month of August ,2016 to January 2017 at the Oke-ogun Polytechnic Saki, in Saki magisterial district did conspired together to steal.

The Police Prosecutor stressed that the accused and others now at large stole ‎one million nine hundred and twenty five thousand hundred and thirty three naira sixty seven kobo (N1,925,233,67k) belonging to the institution. 

ASP Ogunremi added  that the lecturer and others now at large did forged the signature of one Mrs. Dolapo Omolola Ade‎niji in the same institution to withdraw salary and  that the offences committed is punishable under section 516,390 (9) (6) and 467 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38vol. II Laws of Oyo State, Nigeria 2000

Ogunremi then pleaded not guilty to the charges .

Chief Magistrate Taiwo Oladiran in his ruling granted  the lecturer  bail in the sum of N 500, 000 with two surety in like sum and 
that the surety must be gianfully employed and must be resident within Ibadan magistrate district and they must worth N 500,000 each   

The Chief Magistrate however, adjourned the case till 7th July, 2019 for hearing.
