Police arraign trader for cheating

The police yesterday arraigned a trader, Chibueze Odo, in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, for cheating suppliers of goods worth N435, 400.
Odo, who resides at no. 52, Younde St. Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, is charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Sgt Abdullahi Adamu, told the court that on May 10, at about 10.30 a.m., Alhaji Abdulkareem Rasaq of Wuse Market and three others lodged a report at the Zone 3 Police Station.
Adamu told the court that the complainants supplied goods valued at N435,400 on credit to the accused, with a promise to pay them in April, after sales.
He said the accused refused to pay the money.
Adamu said the offence contravened the Penal Code, punishable with 10 years in prison, fine or both.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Christopher Oba, admitted him to bail for N500, 000 and a surety.
Oba adjourned the matter until June 23, for hearing (NAN)
