Police arrest 10 in Enugu for murder of couple

Enugu state Police Command has arrested 10 persons in connection with the murder of husband and wife at Okpowo Okpo Enugu Ezike in Igboeze North local government area of Enugu state and one Chukwuemeka Ugwa in a Oji-River.

The husband and wife, Ogbonna Idoko and Victoria Idoko, respectively, were allegedly murdered inside their room on the night of February 7, while Ugwa was chained and tortured to death by some boys for alleged theft of money on February 8, 2014.
The police in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amaraizu, said on the fateful day the victims throats were slit with a sharp object, suspected to be a knife.

Blueprint gathered that four suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of the couple and they were Ikechukwu Ejike, Michael Ezeja, Solomon Ugwuanyi and Ifeanyi Nwaiyida all of Okpo community;
It was also learnt that six were arrested in connection with the murder of Chukwuemeka Ugwa said to twin brother of one Chukwudi Ugwa, and they were one Eric Nnebedum, Christopher Onyeahzi, Christopher Ejeagbasi, Kingsley Ajala, Ifeanyi Ekwusi and Clement Orji.

The suspects were said to have murdered Chukwuemeka Ugwa, a twin brother to Chukwudi Ugwa, when they allegedly conspired and chained the deceased at the town hall located at Ubaha Awlaw in Oji River council area on February 8, and tortured the victim to death for allegedly stealing the sum of N74, 000.
The deceased’s corpses, police said, had been taken to Ogurute General Hospital and the General Hospital mortuary Oji River, respectively, for autopsy.
