Police arrest 28 suspected kidnappers, robbers in Nasarawa 

The Nasarawa state police command has arrested six suspected kidnappers, who had been terrorising residents of Lafia local government area of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Baba Maiyaki, disclosed this to  newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Lafia, Monday.

He explained that the six suspected kidnappers were arrested in Kiguna village of Lafia East Development Area in Lafia LGA after painstaking efforts by officers of the command.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Mohammed, 20, Musa Ibrahim AKA IBB, 20, Bashiru Anaruwa, 19, and Hamisu Tanko, 20, all of Kiguna village, and one locally fabricated AK 47 rifle was recovered from the suspects as exhibit. 

The CP further stated that 16 armed robbery suspects were arrested, two vehicles and three cartons of brake pads were recovered from them as exhibit.

“The following suspects were arrested: Abdullahi Hakimi 46yrs, Sani Ibrahim 22yrs, Buhari Abdullahi 29yrs, Musa Ibrahim 31yrs, Sani Mohammed 21yrs, Bello Usman 34yrs, Abba Ibrahim 40yrs, Tasiu Abdullahi 30yrs, Isah Isah 35yrs, Bello Auwal 27yrs, Safiulayi Dabo 21yrs and Nasiru Awalu 20yrs,” Baba said.

He explained that three suspects were arrested for alleged cattle rustling in Adogi community of Lafia LGA.

“On 18/01/2023 at about 2230hrs, information was received that one Yunusa Salisu was seen at Adogi village of Lafia LGA with three cows suspected to have been stolen. Acting based on the strength of the information, operatives of the command’s anti-cultism unit raced to the scene, got the suspect arrested and recovered the cows,” he explained further.

Further investigation led to the arrest of his accomplices namely: Abubakar Mohammed and Umar Dahiru both males of Wasa village, Sanga LGA, Kaduna state.

CP Baba, therefore, appealed to residents of the state to continue to give the police important information  that would help them eradicate crime in the state.
