Police arrest 4 for stealing phones, handbags, others in Anambra


The Anambra State Police command, Thursday, said they have arrested suspects for allegedly stealing phones, handbags and other items.
The state command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Muhammed, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who disclosed this in a statement, disclosed that the suspects – Mr Ifeanyichukwu Okoye, Chime Raymond Ugwu, Friday Igwe and Ogbogor Martins were arrested by different police formations in the state.


According to him, Okoye, aged 26, was nabbed by Awada division for allegedly stabbing a middle aged man as well as snatching away his Infinix Hot 5 mobile phone;  while Ugwu, 27, was arrested in Awka by B Division of police after he was beaten to stupor by angry mob.


He said Igwe was arrested by a patrol team attached to Isiowulu Division with some exhibits including one live ammunition of 7.65 mm, four(4) different shoulder bags, two handsets and one tricycle with REG NO.WER 304 WC., even as Ogbogor,  29, was arrested with one Double barrel pump action and three empty magazines of AK 47 rifles.


He said all the cases were under investigation after which suspects would be brought to book, while reassuring the populace on behalf of the Commissioner of police CP John B.Abang, that Anambra state remain safe.
