Police arrest 40 political thugs in Sokoto

Sokoto state police command has announced that it had arrested 40 political thugs.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Shu’aibu Lawal Gambo, who made the announcement, said 23 of the suspects had already been charged to court, while 17 were still being investigated and vowed to fish out their accomplices.

Gambo said the Command had in the recent past recorded huge successes in tackling political unrest and would continue to operate zero tolerance to thuggery.
He said some dangerous weapons which included swords, cutlasses, machetes and other items were recovered from the suspects.
In a related development, some miscreants that attacked the convoy of the governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakardan Wamakko, at Dambuwa area, penultimate week, have been arrested.

According to the police boss, 10 suspects were arrested in connection with the attack and “’they are under our custody and helping the police in the course of investigation.”’
He reiterated his determination to deal with any political party or individual that encouraged political thuggery in the state, adding that the Command was battle ready to ensure adequate protection of lives and property of the people.
